DOUBT (JOHN PATRYCK SHANLEY, 2008)

Set in 1964, Doubt centers on a nun who confronts a priest after suspecting him abusing a black student. He denies the charges, and much of the play's quick-fire dialogue tackles themes of religion, morality and authority. Based on the Pulitzer Prize-Winning Play.

 ----------------------------------------
"Doubt: It's certain to be one of the year's best. (...) Doubt strikes a deeper chill in our hearts than the creepiest thriller. (...) Rating: ***1/2 (out of four)." (Claudia Puig: USA Today)
----------------------------------------
"Between Heaven and Earth, Room for Ambiguity. (...) The air is thick with paranoia in Doubt, but nowhere as thick, juicy, sustained or sustaining as Meryl Streep's performance." (Manohla Dargis: The New York Times)
----------------------------------------
"Doubt has exact and merciless writing, powerful performances and timeless relevance. It causes us to start thinking with the first shot, and we never stop. Think how rare that is in a film. (...) Rating: **** (out of four)." (Roger Ebert: Chicago Sun-Times)
